Magnolia
I’m not the spoiled rich girl I used to be. And if my new business succeeds, I’ll finally be able to prove it.
Too bad my first job is planning a wedding…in my sworn enemy’s barn.
There was a time when I cared about Luke Durham with my whole heart. But that died when he assumed the worst of me.
Now, we’re stuck working together. Failure? Not an option.
But everything would be so much easier if I could forget how good it felt to be loved by Luke instead of hated...
Luke
Running my farm and being a single dad doesn’t leave me much time for grudges.
But for Magnolia James, I might make an exception.
I lost so much because of her. Even my heart. Forgiveness? Not possible.
So, I’ll work with her. But I will keep my mind—and my hands—off her.
Or so I keep telling myself…

I have been looking forward to reading Magnolia's story in the Dragonfly Lake series for quite a while. She was introduced to us in early books as a selfish rich girl who fell on hard times when her father kicked her out for breaking an engagement. She was a minor character who would pop up in the Dragonfly Lake books, but I always found her intriguing. Why would someone who was so reviled stick around in the small town that was waiting for her to fail?
We get the answers and more in Amy Knupp's Single Wish, Luke and Magnolia's story. It was worth the wait. Luke is a divorced dad who runs the family farms, to make more profit he decides to renovate a barn and hopefully attract weddings and parties as extra income.
Magnolia has risen from the ashes of her family drama and has started an event planning business. They are both pushed together when she is hired to plan a wedding in Luke's barn. Forced proximity is always a match waiting to be lit, but wait, they have a history and that is where the story takes off.
I loved that Amy blended the past with the present. She didn't make it easy and the characters certainly worked to get to where they could move ahead into a relationship. It was clever and sweet, with just the right amount of drama. I am happy to say that I loved getting to know Magnolia and her history with Luke. Another excellent read by Knupp.
An entertaining second chance story reuniting Magnolia and Luke. This is a great addition to this series set in Dragonfly Lake. It's enjoyable to revisit the wonderful and familiar characters while meeting new ones, especially sweet little Addie, and getting to learn more about Magnolia and Luke. I highly recommend reading this book!
I received an advanced reader copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved Single Wish! It takes a special author to take a character you disliked and make you absolutely root for them and their happily ever after and Amy Knupp accomplished that with Magnolia. Amy consistently puts out books that are swoony, sweet but spicy. You know when you pick up her books you’re going to get one that you love with the found family, small town vibes. I adored both Magnolia and Luke and feel it was essential to both of them to find out about their pasts- both their past together and their individual stories. Magnolia has progressed so much from when we first met her and i love her character- she’s so strong but also vulnerable and determined. Luke was equally as determined but also so supportive and sweet. Learning about both of their businesses was so fun and i loved their passion. I loved the end of this book and the new things coming to Dragonfly Lake, it’s so exciting! I can’t wait for the next book!
Magnolia James is the owner of Moments by Magnolia, an event planning business, and one of her BFFs Presley Holiday has just gotten engaged to Weston, single dad of three girls, so naturally she wants Magnolia to plan the ceremony, and they want the venue to be in single dad Luke Durham’s barn. The only hiccups in the plan are that they want to marry on Christmas Eve, eleven weeks away, and that Magnolia and Luke have past issues, but they both vow to make it work.
The two successfully stay professtional and ignore their history until Magnolia has a meeting with her mother who left her eighteen years ago, and what she learns and shares with Luke is likely to have a profound impact on their business and personal relationship moving forward. Not long after, they are brought together again by a
rogue llama named Esmerelda, and they share an intense good night kiss.
Goodness gracious, could anything else be added to this convoluted plot featuring two star-crossed would-be lovers torn apart by circumstances beyond their control? Their road ahead is littered with obstacles, including Magnolia’s wretched parents who want to control every aspect of her life, leaving her with scars she is determined to overcome. Amy Knupp once again demonstrates her prowess as a storyteller, and I was captivated from beginning to end, unabashedly rooting for our couple’s second chance redemption. Single Wish is a tour de force and a perfect holiday gift for lovers of friends, family, forgiveness, and happily ever after.
I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily offer my honest opinion.
